Micheal Cella is a software developer and graduate student researcher in the Department of Performing Arts Technology at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, & Dance. He worked professionally as a web developer for 10 years prior to graduate school, where he has focused on researching and developing open-ended systems for creating algorithmic art in the browser. He has developed two open source, browser-based music live coding systems: Facet and Wax. He also develops tools for generative music in Max/MSP, having released seven Max for Live devices and one VST. He has released eight albums and participated in various algoraves since attending the Madison algorave in 2018. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
